This course is an introduction to the foundations of Chinese art from the Neolithic period to the present. It covers the arts of ceramics, bronze, jade, painting, calligraphy, sculpture, and architecture. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of art forms and the socio-political forces and intellectual discourses that shaped them.
Covers biographies, criticism, country surveys, artistic styles and movements, art forms, subject matter and iconography, and techniques. Note: Limit of 3 simultaneous users.
