SSI1-170: Space, Place, and Values: Secondary and Tertiary Resources

Thomas Cole's The Course of Empire

This paper requires synthesizing ideas from multiple assigned texts as well as outside research, i.e., identifying and incorporating additional texts. These texts will encompass primary, secondary, and tertiary sources.

Tertiary Resources

Tertiary sources summarize or synthesize the research in secondary sources. For example, textbooks and reference books such as encyclopedias, handbooks, and dictionaries are tertiary sources.

Secondary Resources

In secondary sources, writers examine and analyze primary sources. Secondary sources include articles and books and may be for general audiences or scholarly ones. Secondary, scholarly articles will mostly appear in peer-reviewed journals. The following databases may be useful for your search.
